The Big Switch

big switch

Hey Y’all! At the beginning of our natural hair journey, we decided to use sulfate free shampoos. And we remained sulfate free until late 2017. Partly because of the price point, we wanted an affordable option of shampoo; Mainly we were curious. We wanted to know how our hair would react to sulfate shampoo.

It’s been almost a year, and we are happy with our experience with sulfate shampoos. Here are a few examples.

♥Cleared a lot of build up on our hair
♥Our scalp was much cleaner
♥Curls were bouncy and defined (without product)

As we always say… Do what works for you. Always. We like sulfate shampoos now and what they do for our hair. Will we go back to sulfate free shampoos? Sure, if we find one that we like and suits our hair needs!

Do you prefer sulfate or sulfate free shampoos? Let us know!

Simple Skincare

Simple Skincare

Hey Ya’ll! I have had some trials when it comes to my skin. I’m 32 years old, I realize that I really don’t need to use all of these products to preserve my skin.

Some of the issues that I have are

♦︎ Dry skin

♦︎Blemish prone skin

♦︎Oily (usually during summer)

I wanted a skincare routine that met all of my needs but in a minimal way.

Cleanser

Since I have dry skin I wanted to get a cleanser that was moisturizing and softens. This Neutrogena Naturals is a cleanser and makeup remover… Yaaasss! It gets rid of all my face makeup without leaving my skin dry and tight.

Toner/ Astringent

This is an oldie but goodie and I am glad I found it again. It’s a great toner and  gentle cleanser. It has 14% alcohol but it does not dry out my skin.

Moisturizer

I have been using Simple for about a year. I love this moisturizer because there is SPF in it. I like that  doesn’t give a white cast on my face, it blends in well and it is perfect for under my makeup. I only use this during the day.

Sealant

I. Love. OliveOil.  I use this mostly at night, it works so well at sealing the moisture in from my cleanser and toner. It helps soothe my dry skin and it removes my eye makeup very well.

Mask

I’ve had this for a while and It’s a staple in my routine. This along with my face brush has lightened up my dark spots.

All of these products are under $20, so there are super affordable. Here is the review of the face brush!

Needless to say it was tough but we didn’t experience any damage to our home.  Thank God!  If you want to donate, here is a link to JJ Watts Relief Fund for Houston and surrounding areas.

Flee from Temptation

Flee from Temptation

2 Timothy 2:22-24

“Run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts. Again I say, don’t get involved in foolish, ignorant arguments that only start fights. A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but must be kind to everyone, be able to teach, and be patient with difficult people.”

Temptations come at our weakest moments in life. It looks good and harmless but it’s very deceiving. When we find ourselves in God, he can help us to stay away and lead a righteous life. The people that we hang with can lead us down the wrong path so we have to be strong enough to say no and not be pressured into sin. We have to show the love of God and not get caught up in the foolish things of this world.
