ACV Rinse

What is an ACV rinse? Well its exactly what it sounds like, you rinse your hair with apple cider vinegar.I know that when you hear that you’re like…huh??? Well, this was the best hair decision that we have ever made since going natural. The ACV rinse is great for all hair. The hair and scalp oil (sebum) have a natural pH of 4.5 -5.5 because it prevents fungi and bacteria from  growing on the hair and scalp. When talking about pH it is the numeric scale to specify the acidity of basicity of an aqueous solution. This is a scale from 0 being more acidic to 14 being more basic (alkaline) and 7 is in the middle and it is neutral. So as you can see our hair is pretty acidic. So now that all the scientific stuff is out of the way, let’s get to how to do the ACV rinse….

First you have to make the vinegar water mixture, 1/4 cup of Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar with the the Mother (1) 16 ounce bottle of water

* The vinegar smell is still present

Add this mixture to a spray bottle once that is done section your hair and apply the mixture to the scalp and massage with the pads of your fingers

* never use your nails because it can cause irritation

Spray the mixture on the hair shaft, make sure that you hair is saturated

Cover with a plastic bag for 5 minutes

Rinse your hair with warm water for about 2 minutes or until the water becomes clear

Use a deep conditioner to detangle your hair and wrap your hair in a plastic bag on for about 10 -15 minutes, then rinse

*We use Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen, Grow and Restore Treatment Masque, but any moisturizing deep conditioner will work

Put on a leave-in conditioner and style your hair using your styling products and you’re finished.

* We use the Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil leave-in conditioner

Here are some of the benefits of using the ACV rinse

•Soothes dry itchy scalp

•Balances the hair pH

•Seals the hair cuticle

*So if you have high porosity hair this will really work well for you because it seals in the moisture that your hair needs

•Encourages hair growth

•Natural detangler

•Adds shine; hair is softer

•Cleanses and clarifies your hair

•Prevents split ends and breakage

Once we were done  we saw an immediate results, our hair was so soft and our scalp was so clean. This is how the ACV rinse is done right, but there is a post about how not to do it and it will be linked below.I hope that you’ll try this on your hair and let us know how it worked for you.

ACV Fail

**** If you have relaxed/permed hair please don’t use this rinse. The chemicals in relaxers/perms doesn’t mix well with ACV****
