Glow Run 5k 2014 Experience

We’ve done it AGAIN!!!! Yes we did another 5k…and I think this was the most FUN we’ve ever had. The Glow Run 5k  came to Houston on January 11th was a 3.1 mile walk /run at night…yes a night run. It doesn’t matter the fitness level, they want people to come out to have fun.The race started at 7pm, but there were other activities like face painting, Zumba and a beer garden. There was great music and great fun. We ran for the Houston Humane Society which is a place where people take abandoned or stray dogs and cats. These animals are examined by the vet, cleaned, spayed/neutered and put up for adoption.

CAM00225Dyon and I had our faces painted with glow in the dark paint. I don’t think we’ve had that done since we were young girls. Everybody had that same reaction when their faces were painted too.

We wore NEON-BRIGHT t-shirts, that glowed in the dark when we got under the black light. Not only did our shirts glow we had other glow items like glasses, headbands, necklaces, and bracelets.

The Glow Run 5k was the best run experience of our lives, not only did we get to run at night, but people were nice and encouraging. People would run or walk by us and they would say, ” Good Job ladies”, and that felt good to hear. People were highfiving each other and making sure that others were alright. We had so much fun…I think we will be doing this again.

At the end of the run everybody received a Glow Run medal for successfully finishing. This wasn’t a race, it was something fun to do with people who you love and care about.
